What does “ROOTED IN RECOVERY” mean?

Hi, I'm Sonya, a certified Holistic Coach and the founder of Rooted in Recovery. My mission is to help you establish a strong holistic foundation in your recovery journey.

As someone who's walked the path of recovery, I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel. My journey spans decades of trial and error and, ultimately, lasting transformation. Through holistic practices, I found freedom, and now I'm here to help you do the same.

Recovery extends beyond mere abstinence and is a continuous and dynamic process. It's not just about survival - it's about thriving emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. It's about reclaiming your life, energy, and sense of self. No matter what you're recovering from, you have the power within to break free and build a thriving, balanced life.

My experience has shown me that true transformation happens when we anchor ourselves in growth. Being Rooted in Recovery means establishing a solid foundation that empowers you to break free from unhealthy patterns and elevate your life.

Why
Recovery Coaching?

Coaching is a powerful tool for setting goals, creating change, and moving towards a life that truly serves you. Unlike therapy or counseling, where the expert gives advice, you are the expert of your life in coaching. I’m here to ask powerful questions, challenge your blind spots, and help you gain the clarity you need to thrive. Coaching isn’t about the past—it focuses on your present and future. It’s where you take action, hold yourself accountable, and embark on a transformation journey.

  • What is recovery coaching?
Imagine a recovery journey that’s entirely your own, uniquely tailored to you. Recovery coaching offers a supportive and empowering partnership, guiding you from simply getting by to truly embracing life to the fullest. This approach meets you exactly where you are—whether you are engaged with 12-step programs or following a completely different path. It’s about building upon your inherent strengths, not fixing what’s broken, and reconnecting with the healthiest, most authentic version of yourself. This personalized, growth-focused process helps you elevate your life beyond mere survival, igniting a renewed sense of purpose and well-being. Together, we’ll focus on your mind, body, and spirit, fostering sustainable, long-term growth as you move beyond past negative patterns, navigate life’s challenges, and embrace a more profoundly fulfilling future.
  • How is coaching different from therapy or consulting?
While therapy often focuses on exploring past experiences and consulting provides specific advice, coaching is future-focused and client-led. As your coach, I don’t provide the answers. Instead, I ask powerful questions that help you uncover your own solutions. Coaching empowers you to build self-awareness, confidence, and resilience to take intentional action toward your goals.
  • Do I have to be in recovery from drugs or alcohol to work with you?
Not at all. While I specialize in holistic recovery coaching, my work is for anyone seeking personal growth and positive change. You may be navigating stress, burnout, codependent patterns, unhealthy habits, or simply the challenges of life itself. Recovery, in this context, is about reclaiming your well-being, whatever that looks like for you.
  • What can I expect during our coaching sessions?
During our sessions, you can expect a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. We’ll explore your goals, challenges, and anything that may be holding you back. Through thoughtful questions and reflective practices, you’ll gain clarity, develop actionable steps, and build a strong foundation for long-term growth and well-being.
  • Is investing in coaching really worth it?
Investing in yourself is a significant decision, especially when considering the commitment of time, energy, and finances. However, the growth and breakthroughs you experience through coaching can profoundly impact all areas of your life. Clients often share how coaching helps them make decisions with clarity, set boundaries with confidence, and discover a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment.
  • How do I know if I’m ready for coaching?
If you’re motivated to create meaningful changes and are open to self-discovery, you're ready to explore coaching. It's also beneficial to consider if you're prepared to truly commit to making those changes happen by taking action as opposed to just considering them. Coaching is most effective when you're willing to fully engage in the process, gently step outside your comfort zone, and move purposefully toward your goals with intention.

WHAT MY CLIENTS ARE SAYING

I was able to create actionable plans in each area while identifying patterns and habits that were hindering my ability to trust my intuition and live purposefully.

Sonya created a supportive environment and I highly recommend coaching with her. She has a talent for guiding you to go beyond just creating a plan. She can help you remove the habits and routines that are no longer serving you.

Crystal G.

It's having value in my process. It's hitting things that aren't therapy issues, they're life issues.
I can see the purpose it has for people!

Chris R.

Working with Sonya has been super impactful. I didn't fully grasp the power of coaching until I jumped into it, noticing significant changes in my mindset, which became evident by the second or third session. Sonya's compassion and her thought-provoking questions encouraged me to think so much deeper. Helping me recover my self-trust, the opportunity to get very clear on my goal and take necessary actions to support my growth.
